A Little Change of Pace
Finding a Piece of Texas History
Dear Reader,
We have done a little experiment with you all and it has come to our attention that you don’t really like to read
INSURANCE articles. And we don’t blame you! How about this month, we give you a story that you are much
more likely to read! So, for your entertainment, please enjoy this original corner story that Bill, my husband,
came home with a few weeks back. Take it away, Bill!

The C.H. Hunt Survey No. 21, A-223, Comal County, was surveyed under a 3rd Class Head Right Certificate by
James R. Pace, District Surveyor of Travis District February 25th, 1848. The certificate entitled the holder to
640 acres of land and was located on the north (left) bank of the Guadalupe River. In accordance with the
instructions given to the surveyors, the survey was made in a rectangular shape with ½-mile fronting on the
river and then extending north 2-miles.
This survey has been in the same family ownership since 1852. Over the years, three parts of the original 640
acre survey have been severed and sold off by the family, leaving a balance of 391.2 acres. We were engaged
by the family to provide a TSPS Category 1B Standard Land Survey of the remainder tract.
