PRESIDENT’S LETTER
From the President
Howdy TSPS Members:
I hope everyone is having a great and prosperous summer so far as well as
taking some time off to enjoy time with family and friends here and there. TSPS
has been busy over the last several months. We had a great course and speaker
development on June 6-7, 2025, in Austin. We look forward to bringing our
members another great slate of speakers and courses for the 2026 symposium
on January 23-24, 2026, at the Waco convention center.
As most of you are aware, the Texas 89th Legislative regular session ended
Sine Die on June 2, 2025. TSPS had a very successful session, and our two
priority bills passed both houses without opposition and were signed by
Governor Abbott to take effect on September 1, 2025. Please see the
Legislative Update for additional information on the legislative session.
Our organization did lose a dear friend, advocate and cheerleader to us for so
many years, TSPS’ long-time legal counsel and legislative lobbyist, Mr. Mark J.
Hanna. Over my years on the state level I have gotten to know and work
alongside Mark on many issues. He was a great source to our members and
the board of directors throughout his tenure and will be greatly missed. The
executive committee is in the process of finding a replacement for such big
shoes to fill.
Lastly, the TSPS 74th Annual Convention & Tech Expo is right around the
corner at the beautiful Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, Texas on
October 8-11, 2025. Sponsorships are available and registration is open. So,
get signed up and I look forward to seeing everyone there.
STEVEN J. FREEMANN II
